Choosing the Right DeWalt Hog Rings
The P7DW is made for 11/16" DeWalt DWR16G1M rings in collated strips. Loose rings won't feed. The included 1,000 rings will cover most fence and cage jobs. To add more rings for refills or bulk orders, give us a call and we'll help you get the right rings. If you need a heavier tool for big fencing runs, review our pneumatic hog ringers.
How to Load and Use the P7DW
- Pull back the spring-loaded pusher on the magazine.
- Slide in a strip of collated 11/16" rings with the open ends facing the jaws.
- Release the pusher so it pushes the strip forward.
- Place the jaws so the open ring wraps around both wires or pieces you're joining.
- Squeeze the handles all the way to close the ring, then release. The next ring feeds in.
Care and Troubleshooting
- Clearing a jam: pull back the pusher, remove the strip, and work the stuck ring out of the jaws. Reload.
- Rings not closing fully: squeeze the handles all the way, and make sure you aren't trying to close around too much material.
- Rings not feeding: check that you're using collated strips, not loose rings, and that the pusher slides freely.
- Keep it clean: brush out dirt and add a drop of light oil to the pivot now and then.
Hog Ring Pliers or a Pneumatic Hog Ringer?
Hand hog ring pliers like these are light, quiet and need no air hose, which makes them great for repairs and jobs spread across a property. A pneumatic hog ringer is faster for long production runs in one spot. For most fence, cage and garden work, the DeWalt hog ring pliers kit is plenty.
