What It's Used For
This electric box stapler closes the tops of corrugated cartons on packing lines, in warehouses and at shipping stations. It's a good fit where an air line would get in the way or where packers move from station to station.
Electric vs. Pneumatic Carton Staplers
An air-powered carton stapler needs a compressor and hose. A cordless carton stapler only needs a charged battery, so it's quieter and easier to move. If you already have shop air, review the Josef Kihlberg a.560PN, the air version of this tool.
Choosing the Right Staples
The a.560B takes 1-3/8 inch A crown staples. Use a 5/8 inch leg for single wall boxes and a 3/4 inch leg for double wall boxes. Our ASC 1-3/8 x 3/4 carton staples fit; add a few boxes to your order. If your staples have a 1-1/4 inch C crown, look at the c.561B instead.
Using the Battery Carton Stapler
- Charge the battery and slide it into the tool.
- Load a strip of staples into the quick-snap magazine.
- Pick manual, semi-automatic or automatic mode.
- Set the leg length for your boxes, place the tool on the flap, and staple.
Care and Clearing a Jam
Remove the battery before you clear a jam. Take out the magazine, remove the bent staple, and reload. Keep the feed path, clincher and battery contacts clean. Our shop repairs tools in house if it ever needs service.
Is a Cordless Carton Stapler Worth It?
If you close boxes at more than one spot, or packers move around the floor, a battery tool saves time. There's no hose to trip over and no compressor noise. Shops that pack in one fixed spot with good shop air may do fine with the air version. Review how your team packs, then pick the one that fits.
Battery Tips
Keep a second battery on the charger so one is always ready. Charge it fully before a long shift, and store the tool with the battery out over weekends. Add a spare battery to your order if you run more than one shift.
