What This Heavy Duty Stapler Is Used For
Offices, mailrooms, print shops, law firms and schools use this heavy duty stapler for thick reports, bids, manuals, legal files and blueprint sets. When a regular desktop stapler gives up at 20 or 30 sheets, the HD-12N/24 keeps going.
Choosing the Right Staples
Match the staple to the stack. MAX lists these ranges:
- 1213FA-H (1/2 inch): 50 to 110 sheets
- 1215FA-H (9/16 inch): 90 to 140 sheets
- 1217FA-H (5/8 inch): 110 to 170 sheets
- 1220FA-H (3/4 inch): 150 to 200 sheets
- 1224FA-H (15/16 inch): 200 to 240 sheets
Review our MAX 1213FA-H, MAX 1220FA-H and MAX 1224FA-H, and add the sizes you use most to your order.
How to Load and Use the HD-12N/24
- Open the rear of the stapler and slide in a strip of MAX staples sized for your stack.
- Check the staple window to confirm the size you loaded.
- Set the paper stopper to the throat depth you want.
- Square up the stack and slide it against the stopper.
- Press the handle down in one firm, smooth stroke.
Care and Clearing a Jam
Most problems come from the wrong staple size. If staples fold or don't reach through, switch to the next longer size. If the legs poke out past the stack, go one size shorter. To clear a jam, open the rear loader, take out the staple strip and remove the bent staple with your fingers or small pliers, then reload. Keep the base and anvil free of paper bits, and don't try to staple past 240 sheets, since forcing the handle can bend the staples and the driver.
Is This Stapler Heavy Duty Enough for You?
If you staple more than about 50 sheets at a time, yes. The HD-12N/24 is a high capacity stapler that goes up to 240 sheets. For lighter everyday stacks, review our MAX HD-12N/13 and HD-12N/17 models. If your office shares one big stapler, add a second box of staples so the next person isn't left empty.
