What This Senco Air Stapler Is Used For

Upholstery shops use this Senco air stapler, also called a Senco air staple gun, to attach fabric, dust covers and trim to furniture frames. The long nose gets into the deep corners of chairs, headboards and cabinet frames. It also works well for cabinets, molding and furniture assembly, where a small 22 gauge staple holds without splitting thin wood.

Choosing the Right Staples

Use Senco C-series staples or other 22 gauge, 3/8 inch crown staples with legs from 1/4 inch to 5/8 inch. Short legs work for thin fabric over hardwood. Longer legs hold through padding, several layers of fabric or softer frame woods. Add a few boxes in the lengths you use most so you're never stuck mid-job, and add a spare air fitting if you run more than one tool.

How to Load and Use Your Senco Pneumatic Staple Gun

  1. Set your air regulator between 60 and 95 PSI.
  2. Press the magazine release and slide the magazine open.
  3. Drop in a strip of staples, legs pointing toward the work, and close the magazine.
  4. Connect the air hose to the 1/4 inch inlet.
  5. Test on scrap: if staples stand up, raise the pressure a little; if they sink too deep, lower it.
  6. Hold the nose flat on the fabric and pull the trigger for each staple.

Care, Maintenance and Troubleshooting

Follow the oiling steps in Senco's manual and drain your compressor tank often so water doesn't reach the tool. Keep the nose and bottom rail clean so they glide over fabric. To clear a jam, disconnect the air first, open the magazine, remove the staples and pull the bent staple out of the nose with pliers. If jams keep coming back, check that you're using 22 gauge, 3/8 inch crown staples and review the pressure setting.

Long Nose vs Standard SFT10XP

Both tools use the same 22 gauge, 3/8 inch crown staples in the same 1/4 inch to 5/8 inch range, and both carry a 5-year warranty. The long nose is the pick for corners, channels and deep frames. If most of your work is on open, flat panels, review our standard SFT10XP.
